Setup
Most of this is outdated, and will be updated once we get more money from Extravaganza.
The process for setting up a sports broadcast is unfortunately more complex than for the morning show. Nevertheless, once you get the hang of things it becomes fairly easy. Usually it takes around 20-30 minutes if nothing goes wrong.
If things aren't going your way or aren't working the way they're supposed to, stay calm. Working in a live environment is more stressful than one where you're able to do another take. Some problems just take more time to diagnose than others. If you think through a problem step-by-step, you're much more likely to find a solution than if you start frantically unplugging things. More on this in the troubleshooting section.
Diagram
Here's a diagram to explain how everything is connected. We'll detail the setup process below.
Gameday checklist

- Scoreboard Laptop & its power brick
- Main Mixer and Producer Mixer (Red)
- All 3 Audio Technica headphones (2 for announcers, 1 for Producer)
- Headphone Amp
- Replay Controller
- External Monitors

- 2 Canon XA 11's and the PTZ with the controller for it
- 3 Tripods
- 2 Wireless transmitters & receivers
- Wireless Microphone Packs and their Recievers (Don't froget the power adapters either!)
Every item of gear (excluding cables) should have a spot in one of the Pelicans, make sure you put the correct items in the correct case, in the correct spot. If you don't remember where a particular peice of equipment goes, you can look at the photo below.
Cables Needed
- 2 Short-ish HDMI cables for connecting the wireless HDMI receivers
- 2x USB Type B cable for connecting mixer and Scorelink
- 1/4 in. TRS cables for headphone amp
- Thunderbolt cable (short white one) for connecting PCIe enclosure and the dock
- Mixer, headphone amp, and Laptop power cables and extension cord(s)
- Any extra XLR needed to run additional microphones
USB Type C is not the same as Thunderbolt! The pinout on the cables are the same, but the laptop will not recognize the capture card if it is connected with a regular USB C cable. Use a genuine thunderbolt cable like the short white one.
