Script
The Morning Show script is a single Google Doc that is altered every day based on what announcements need to be made. The script is almost entirely compiled from announcements sent in by teachers. Faculty and students will send their announcements to halo@stasaints.net. Every morning, someone will check the inbox and see if there are any announcements that need to be made for the day. Many times teachers will want announcements to be read off for multiple days, in which case their announcement can just be re-used from the previous day's script.
Announcements can be copied and pasted into the script from the inbox, but make sure to proofread to avoid grammar mistakes and poorly-worded sentences. When you paste an announcement add a blank space before and after the paragraph to make it easier to distinguish between sections.
Saint of the day
We always include a "saint of the day" at the top of the show. We get the saint of the day from franciscanmedia.org/saint-of-the-day and usually just copy the brief summary they've made. It isn't always necessarily the feast day of a saint when they are the saint of the day.
Fun fact of the day
There isn't one source for the fun facts of the day, so it might take a minute to find a good one. A lot of times Mr. Miner compiles a backlog of them and keeps them at the bottom of the script to be moved into place when needed. Or since we live in 2024, you could use ChatGPT to generate one that you haven't heard in a while.
Sample Script
Good morning Saints, Today is National Eat a Pretzel Day! I’m [name] and I’m [name]!
The saint of the day is St. Christopher Mag-al-YEN-ays. Christopher Magallanes is a martyr and saint who was executed without trial during the Cristero War, on the charge of inciting rebellion. His crime? He was on his way to say Mass!
STA Lost and Found items are on the right side of the stage in the Commons. If you are a Choir or Theater student, please make sure to stop by and collect any items that may be yours. After today, the items will be donated to Catholic Charities.
Now it’s time for the fun fact of the day! Did you know that The Barbie doll’s full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts, from Willows, Wisconsin. Her birthday is March 9, 1959, when she was first displayed at the New York Toy Fair.
