Morning show setup
To start off, if anything wasn't disconnected from the setup from the previous days, setting up the studio for a show takes no more than 30 seconds. It's extremely easy and almost entirely consists of turning things on; if they aren't already.
Steps to get the Morning Show ready
- Using the light switch on the right wall, turn on the studio lights, monitor, and optionally the speakers.
- Boot up the production PC
- Log in to Windows and open up the shortcut on the desktop labeled "The Halo Morning Show."
The order of these steps matters somewhat. The camera, mixer, and audio interface must be turned on and connected prior to opening up the vMix session. If they are connected/powered on after the fact, vMix will not recognize them.
Teleprompter
Once you've made all the changes to the Morning Show Google Doc, to update the script on the teleprompter, press and hold the microphone icon. This will grab the latest script changes and put it on the screen. You can scroll up and down the script with the + and - buttons on the remote. Alteratively you can swipe up or down on the touchpad for more detailed scrolling.
More Information about the inner-workings of the Teleprompter can be found in the Software & Automation section.of the wiki.
Microphones
Make sure the microphone channel 1 is un-muted on the mixer and that the volume levels look right. Volume can be adjusted using the gain knob at the top of the channel or the black fader at the bottom. All EQ knobs (blue) should be in a neutral position.
Note: the master faders do not affect the signal going into the production PC over USB. If you want to adjust the microphone volume(s) use the faders connected to the XLR inputs.
Credits
To edit the end credits, right click on the credits input in vMix and select "Title Editor." A window will open up to where you can change the anchors, producer, and anyone else you want to credit. You must abbreviate their last names, as per a school rule for anyone publically showing their face on the internet.
After those steps are complete, you're pretty much ready to go live. Make sure the camera is centered on the anchors and zoom in so that nothing in the ceiling is visible.
